A collection of topographical and local history volumes – Lancashire and Westmorland. A two-volume David & Charles reprint set of Baines’s Lancashire, titled History, Directory and Gazetteer of the County Palatine of Lancaster, by Edward Baines (1968), featuring a new introduction by Owen Ashmore. Also included is the Mannex & Co. 1851 Directory of Westmorland with Lonsdale and Amounderness in Lancashire; The Silver Dale by W. Riley, published by Herbert Jenkins, complete with its original pictorial dust jacket., and A History of Warton Parish by John Lucas, The Dated Buildings of South Lonsdale (revised and expanded edition) by Emmeline Garnett, The Chronicles of Milnthorpe by Roger K. Bingham (Cicerone Press), and The Midland Hotel by Guise & Brook. The volumes are primarily octavo in size.
Condition report:
The collection is in generally good condition. The two-volume Baines\'s Lancashire set shows light shelf wear and minor sunning to the red cloth spines. The dust jacket for The Silver Dale is notably worn, with significant loss and chipping to the spine ends and general edge wear. Other volumes exhibit typical light handling wear, minor scuffing to boards, and occasional light edge rubbing to dust jackets. Text blocks appear generally clean and square.
