Buyer's Premium:

A comprehensive collection of books across multiple volumes, featuring an assortment of 19th and 20th-century literature, poetry, biography, and reference works. Notable titles from publishers such as The Hogarth Press (Virginia Woolf’s Flush and Orlando), Faber and Faber (Under Milk Wood by Dylan Thomas, Venice by Jan Morris, and The Faber Book of Twentieth Century Verse), and Methuen (The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame). Reference volumes include Brewer’s Dictionary of Phrase and Fable (Cassell), Pears’ Cyclopaedia, and The Desk Standard Dictionary. Decorative bindings are represented by a late Victorian cloth edition of Bunyan’s The Pilgrim’s Progress, Thomas Hardy’s Life’s Little Ironies, numerous Nelson Classics, Oxford University Press poetical works, and Penguin paperbacks.

Condition report:

The condition of the collection is mixed. Many volumes exhibit significant wear consistent with age and use, including frayed spine ends, bumped corners, sun-faded spines, and surface soiling. Several dust jackets are present but show heavy chipping, tears, and paper loss, notably on Jan Morris\'s Venice and David Nokes\'s Jane Austen. One volume of Tennyson shows substantial loss to the spine cloth. Internal foxing, spotting, and toning to the paper are likely present throughout the earlier volumes. Some mid-20th-century cloth-bound volumes remain in good condition with bright gilt and stable bindings.
