Buyer's Premium:

A pair of Edwardian sterling silver casters of graduated size, comprising a larger sugar caster and a smaller pepper caster. Each vessel is of traditional baluster form with a central girdle, rising from a stepped circular spreading foot. The pieces are fitted with pierced, domed pull-off covers, each surmounted by a baluster finial. The design reflects an early 18th-century style typical of the period. Both items are struck with a full set of English hallmarks to the main body. The hallmarks include the maker mark S & Co within a rectangular punch for Sydney and Co, the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office, and the date letter h for 1907. Corresponding part marks are visible on the covers.

Height of larger caster: approximately 15cm – 18cm
Height of smaller caster: approximately 12cm – 14cm
Weight: not recorded.

Condition report:

The pair is in good antique condition, showing surface wear, fine scratches, and tarnishing consistent with age and regular use. There are no major dents, splits, or evident signs of professional repair. The covers fit securely. Hallmarks remain clear and legible.
