This lot comprises an assortment of ceramic display and collector’s plates. The most prominent group features a series of circular wildlife plates with gilt rims, bearing the printed signature of the British artist David Shepherd and are consistent with limited edition series produced by Wedgwood for the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. A second group of plates depicts aviation scenes, specifically Avro Lancaster bombers flying above a cloud layer. Also included is a decorative plate with a scalloped edge and red-lined rim featuring a holly leaf and berry border, and a small reticulated plate with a pierced border. The reticulated plate displays a central garden scene with the printed proverb KISSIN’ DON’T LAST and GOOD COOKIN’ DO.
Condition report:
No chips, cracks, or visible repairs are apparent to the uppermost plates in each stack. The gilt rims on the wildlife plates appear well-preserved. The items show minimal signs of surface wear consistent with display use.
