An intricately carved dark hardwood elephant head and trunk, originally serving as a leg for an Anglo-Indian occasional or coffee table.
Condition report:
The item is in aged condition with visible wear consistent with its previous use as a furniture component. There are several significant drying cracks (shakes) in the wood, most prominent along the length of the trunk and near the joins of the ears. Minor losses and looseness are present at the edges of the carved ears. The surface exhibits accumulated dust and cobwebs throughout. The metal brackets show surface oxidisation and rust.
