TTwo British Second World War-era civilian respirators issued under the Air Raid Precautions scheme. The first is an Adult Civilian Duty respirator.The facepiece is stamped with the manufacturer mark L & B R CO for the Leyland & Birmingham Rubber Company. It is housed in its original cardboard transit box. The second item is a child’s respirator, often referred to as the Mickey Mouse mask,and retains its original cardboard transit box. Both items are historical collectables and contain original filters which may contain crocidolite (blue asbestos). They are sold for display purposes only and are not suitable for wear.
Condition report:
The respirators show age-related wear including stiffness to the rubber and tarnishing to the metal components. The cardboard boxes are in poor to fair condition with visible tearing, staining, and structural weaknesses consistent with age. One box has a partially damaged paper label and significant surface wear.
