This studio pottery figurine, titled Embroiderer of Kashmir, is the work of the British ceramic artist Reginald (Reg) Johnson. The piece depicts a male artisan in traditional attire, including a turquoise turban and a long robe finished with a variegated lustre glaze. The figure is shown seated cross-legged on a patterned red and gold rug, working on a large piece of blue fabric detailed with dark embroidery. A small gold-coloured lidded box and two blue spools of thread are positioned on the rug beside him. The figure is mounted on a stepped rectangular base with a black glaze. The underside is hand-inscribed with the title, the artist’s name, and the designation Studio Potter. Johnson was a former senior painter at Royal Doulton and is recognised for his highly detailed Orientalist figures and mastery of complex lustre glazes.

Condition report:
The figurine is in very good condition with no apparent chips, cracks, or professional restorations. The glaze remains vibrant and the lustre finish is well-preserved throughout.
