A mid-20th century Iraqi Niello silver condiment set, characteristic of the work produced in the Amara region. The set comprises a two-part pepper shaker with a perforated domed top and stylized finial, a lidded mustard pot with a hinged cover featuring a crescent moon finial and a cutout for a spoon, and an open circular salt cellar. The collection is accompanied by a matching shovel-form scoop and a small condiment spoon with a decorated terminal. Each piece is decorated using the Niello technique, featuring traditional Sabaean motifs including dhows on a river, palm trees, camels, and architectural landmarks such as the Arch of Ctesiphon and the Tomb of Ezra. The mustard pot is marked with the letters SK, while the pepper shaker and salt cellar are marked with the letters HH. Small Arabic script characters are also visible on the bodies of the vessels.
Weight and measurements are not available as no scale or ruler is present in the images.
Condition report:
The items show surface wear and fine scratches consistent with age and domestic use. The black Niello inlay appears to be largely intact across all pieces. There is light tarnishing to the silver surfaces throughout the set.
