A pair of original art pieces comprising two Orientalist scenes executed in watercolour with gouache highlights on paper. The first work is signed S. Said in the lower left corner and includes a line of Arabic script beneath the signature. The second work, in portrait format, appears to be unsigned. Both works are rendered in a loose, atmospheric style and are presented in matching glazed gilt-composition frames with cream-coloured mounts.
Condition report:
Both watercolours show overall toning to the paper and some light fading of the pigments consistent with age. The mounts exhibit minor discolouration and light foxing. The gilt-composition frames show surface wear, including scuffs, scratches, and small losses to the gilded finish.
