This glazed ceramic figurine depicts the character D’Artagnan from Alexandre Dumas’ novel The Three Musketeers. The piece is the work of English studio potter Reginald Johnson (1909-1993), formerly a modeller for Royal Doulton. The underside of the base, which is modelled as stony ground, features a handwritten inscription in black ink on a white glazed reserve: D’ARTAGNAN / FROM / THE THREE MUSKETEERS / BY STUDIO POTTER / K JOHNSON.
Condition report:
The figurine is in good overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. A small lot sticker numbered 1471 is attached to the back of the blue cloak. The protective green felt on the underside has been partially peeled back, revealing the signature and some old adhesive residue.
