This lot consists of an original letter from Winston Churchill on House of Commons stationery, dated 1945. The document is a single-page autograph letter signed executed in blue ink on a cream-coloured sheet. The stationery features a printed blue circular crest at the head, containing a crown and the royal motto Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense. The manuscript text reads: I thank you sincerely for your kind message to me which I have received & read with great pleasure. The letter is signed Winston S. Churchill in the lower right and is hand-dated 1945 in the lower left corner. When held to the light, the ink shows significant bleed-through to the reverse of the paper.
Condition report:
The letter exhibits a single horizontal fold across the centre. There is visible toning and light foxing across the entire sheet, with more concentrated spotting appearing near the top edge. The paper remains intact with no significant tears or losses.
