This original watercolour on paper, titled ‘Buttermere from Haystacks’, is by the British artist and architect Jack Beddows. The verso retains two labels from Talbot Galleries, Lancaster. One label provides a detailed biography of the artist, noting his professional background as an architect and his focus on portraying the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. This label also includes the title, artist’s dates, and a previous retail price of £375.00.
Condition report:
The watercolour appears to be in good condition, with no evidence of foxing, moisture damage, or significant fading to the pigments. The paper is flat and well-preserved. The mount is clean and shows no signs of discolouration. The gilt frame is in good structural condition with only minor surface wear and light scuffing consistent with age. The piece has not been examined out of the frame.
