An English provincial oak armchair of box-seat construction, dating from the late 18th or early 19th century. No maker’s marks or stamps are visible on the piece.
Condition report:
The chair is in worn, unrestored condition. There is significant wear and loss to the dark-stained finish, particularly on the armrests and front legs, where the lighter natural oak is visible. The wooden surfaces show various scuffs, scratches, and small chips commensurate with age and domestic use. The metal drawer handle shows heavy oxidation. There are visible signs of historic woodworm activity, particularly on the lower legs and apron. The drawer is functional but shows wear to the internal runners and base.
