A Chinese porcelain bottle-form vase with a globular body and a tall cylindrical neck. The base features a six-character mark in iron-red overglaze arranged in vertical columns: 大清乾隆年製 (Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi), which translates to Great Qing, Qianlong Period, Made. The style of the enamelling and the execution of the mark indicate this is an apocryphal mark, likely dating the piece to the 20th century.
Condition report:
The vase has a hole drilled through the centre of the base, indicating it was previously converted for use as a lamp base. There is accumulated grime and surface wear to the unglazed foot rim. The overglaze enamel decoration is largely intact with minor surface wear consistent with age and use. No visible chips, cracks, or restorations are apparent.
