A late Victorian fringe-style necklace by the prestigious London maker Hancocks & Co. The necklace features a central section of seven floral clusters, each composed of six turquoise cabochons centered by a grain-set diamond, alternating with individual seed pearl-set circular links. Suspended from the central section are eleven articulated tripartite foliate drops in yellow metal, each set with three pearls and a central diamond. The necklace is integrated into a chain composed of small, circular yellow-metal links accented with seed pearls. It is secured by a box clasp with an attached safety chain. The necklace is presented in its original fitted green leather case. The interior lid is lined in cream silk and bears a gilt-stamped maker mark beneath a royal warrant crest, transcribed as HANCOCKS & CO. JEWELLERS AND SILVERSMITHS BRUTON ST BOND ST LONDON. The exterior of the case is decorated with a gilt scroll border and is initialled M. B. in gold leaf.
Condition report:
The necklace is in good condition overall, showing light surface wear consistent with age and use. There is minor natural colour variation to the turquoise stones, with one stone in the outer cluster exhibiting a greener hue. The original fitted case shows minor exterior scuffing and some internal darkening to the velvet and silk lining, consistent with its age.
