An original Anglepoise Model 1227 articulated desk lamp, featuring the iconic three-spring balanced-arm mechanism designed by George Carwardine. The lamp is constructed from metal with a black-painted finish, mounted on a heavy, tiered square cast iron base, with a conical metal shade, finished in black on the exterior and white on the interior. The upright support base is embossed with the mark: THE ANGLEPOISE PAT. IN U.K. AND ABROAD. The unit has been rewired with a modern black twisted-fabric cable and is fitted with a contemporary UK three-pin plug.
Condition report:
The lamp is in good vintage condition, exhibiting surface wear consistent with age and regular use. This includes minor paint chips, light scratches, and accumulated dust. The mechanical joints and spring tension appear functional. While the lamp is shown in working order, it is recommended that the buyer has the item professionally PAT tested before use.
