The auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £15

Buyer's Premium:

A mid-20th-century Windsor-style rocking chair produced by the British manufacturer Ercol. The chair is constructed with a solid shaped elm seat and a beech frame comprising the hoop back, spindles, and legs. The design features a hooped back containing six vertical spindles socketed into the seat, with out-swept armrests supported by turned spindles. It is raised on splayed legs joined by a central H-stretcher, all mounted on rockers. The rear edge of the seat retains an original blue and gold foil label which reads THIS IS AN ERCOL PRODUCTION with a swan logo. Adjacent to the label is an incised mark F182 and a stamped British Standard Kitemark followed by the numbers 2056.

Condition report:

In fair, used condition. There is significant and visible wear to the dark stained finish, particularly along the top of the hooped back, the upper surfaces and ends of the armrests, and the edges of the rockers, where the lighter natural wood is exposed. The chair appears structurally sound.
