A near-pair of late 19th or early 20th-century side chairs in the English vernacular style, specifically identified as Lancashire spindle-backs. No maker’s marks or stamps are visible on either piece.
Condition report:
Both chairs exhibit significant wear consistent with age and domestic use. The rush seat of the dark-stained chair is heavily damaged and broken through the centre, requiring replacement. The oak chair\'s seat shows overall wear and discolouration. There is prominent loss to the surface finish on both frames, particularly on the rails, stretchers, and feet. Multiple small holes from historical woodworm infestation are visible throughout the legs and stretchers.
