An English studio pottery glazed ceramic figurine titled Bubbles, based on the 1886 painting by Sir John Everett Millais. The figure depicts a young boy with golden curly hair, dressed in a green suit with a white ruff collar and cuffs. The underside of the base has a cut-out in the green felt revealing handwritten inscriptions on the ceramic body: Bubbles, AFTER Sir John Millais RA, by, Sonia Potter, Ray Johnson. Reg Johnson is the signature used by master modeller Reginald Johnson (1909-1993), who collaborated with Sonia Potter on studio editions of his figurines after leaving Royal Doulton.
Condition report:
The figurine is in very good condition with no apparent chips, cracks, or restorations. The hand-painted glazed finish remains bright. A paper auction lot sticker is adhered to the reverse of the figure.
