A large 19th-century provincial blanket chest or storage cofferm constructed from solid pine with a natural, unpolished scrubbed finish that highlights the timber’s grain and knots. Please note the industrial wheeled dolly shown in the photographs is for display and transport within the auction house only and is not included with the chest.
Condition report:
Presented in an authentic, unrestored condition. The chest exhibits significant wear consistent with age and utilitarian use, including scattered surface stains, deep scratches, and abrasions. There is evidence of historic woodworm activity which appears to be inactive. The lower edges show splintering and wear from floor contact. The metal hardware is heavily oxidised.
