This lot consists of two wall mirrors of contrasting styles. The first is a Venetian style mirror featuring a shaped, arched top and a frameless construction. The central bevelled plate is surrounded by smaller mirror panels etched with foliate and floral motifs. The second is a large octagonal wall mirror set within a dark stained reeded wood frame, accented with a beaded gilt effect inner slip. The mirror plate features bevelled edges and is decorated with etched horizontal and diagonal geometric lines. Both mirrors are primarily constructed from mirror glass.
Condition report:
The Venetian style mirror is in generally good condition with light surface wear and minor silvering loss consistent with age. The octagonal mirror shows a significant area of damage and wood loss to the upper corner of the frame. Both mirror plates appear clear with no significant foxing visible, although they require cleaning.
